Think global – act global
Multidimensional Perspective
In the field of media and communication, international experience is a must for future decision-makers. To ensure high quality and international significance, the MCM program pursues a balanced integration of different angles on media and communication:
- Culture & Society
- ICTs & Technology
- Politics & Economy
Transcultural Cooperation
This program will bring together Chinese and Austrian students in media and communication studies. They cooperate closely for two semesters to gain first-hand experiences that meet the challenges in a global future. The
academic tandem system represents the general principle of close cooperation between different learning and working cultures.
A social buddy system is introduced to allow an intercultural experience for Chinese students and guarantees a smooth integration into the Austrian way of life. In addition, the Austrian buddies get first-hand experience of Chinese values, habits, and behaviors. This close inter-cultural cooperation is an essential part of the MCM Program and a major learning principle.
Collaborative Learning in a Global Environment
The perception of cultural differences between the academic and scientific systems and the integration of different teaching methods support the competences of both the Austrian and the Chinese students working in international teams. Furthermore, the buddy system offers a great opportunity to establish
sustainable relations between Chinese and Austrian students which last longer than the program itself. Participants work in
mixed teams and produce collaborative scientific papers, presentations, theoretical and practical reflections on field trips and excursions.
Participants receive a certificate for completion of the Media and Communication Manage-ment Program. This certification is awarded by the Fudan University in Shanghai and the University of Salzburg and will support future employability and demonstrate international standing of the MCM alumni.
